Easy TMNT Nail Art

Here is the 3rd nail art tutorial for today as promised!

My 5 year old daughter is currently all about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, she was even Leonardo for Halloween. She also has a habit of chewing on her nails but if they are painted sometimes she won't chew on them--this design lasted her a WEEK! That is a record in my household, normally it is gone by the end of the day! This design is quick (have you ever tried to paint a child's nails? omg. lol) and simple!

Difficulty: Easy

TOOLS:
1.Green polish- I used NYC in High Line Green
               2. Red polish- I used NYC in Columbus Circle Crimson
               3. Blue polish- I used Pure Ice in French Kiss
               4. Purple polish- I used SH striper in Purple Violet
               5. Orange polish- I used Sinful Colors in Cloud 9
               6. White polish- I used Sinful Colors in Snow Me White
               7. Black polish- I used Salon Perfect in Black Ink
               8. Clear Glitter polish- I used Milani in Diamond Dazzle
               9. Dotting tool/toothpick

STEPS:

1. Start off by painting all of your nails with the green nail polish. Allow to try.

2. Next on all of your fingers but your ring finger, Using the RED, BLUE, PURPLE, and ORANGE draw a thick stripe across your nails to represent each mask. (one color per nail) On your ring finger put a layer or two of the glitter nail polish over the green to add some sparkle.

3. Once the masks are dry- grab your white nail polish and dotting tool and add 2 white dots to each mask for the eyes. Allow to dry completely.

4. Now using a smaller dotting tool or toothpick add small black dots for the pupils on the white eyes.  Add a top coat when everything is dry and go find some bad guys!

My daughter absolutely loved this manicure, she would show everyone she came across! :)

Simple Sparkle Manicure

I bought 2 new nail polishes recently to add to my collection NYC Precious Peacock and Orchid Teal Me A Secret. I fell in love with these colors as soon as I saw them and wanted to do a simple manicure to showcase the gorgeous colors. This manicure is simple and who doesn't love a little sparkle? ;)

Difficulty: Easy

Tools:
          1. Emerald polish- I used NYC Precious Peacock
          2. Teal Polish- I used Orchid Teal Me A Secret
          3. Clear Top Coat- I used NYC Long Wearing in 271 Extra Shiny Top Coat
          4. Loose glitter- I used a light blue in a diamond shape- but yellow, clear, green, just about any color would look good!
          5. toothpick to pick up the glitter and position it

STEPS:

1.Begin by painting your Thumb, Ring Finger, and Pinky with the TEAL polish.
Now using the EMERALD paint your Index Finger and Middle Finger.
*in the #1 picture this is only after ONE coat. If you need to after the polish is dry add another coat or 2 or 3 (like I did for the NYC polish)haha... until the polish isn't opaque*

2. Now add a clear coat on one nail at a time and using the toothpick dip the tip in the clear top coat and pick up a single piece of glitter and make a line of glitter going down the center of your nail-starting at the base of the nail and only going to the center. When your toothpick won't pick up the glitter simply dip it into the top coat again. I decided to make 3 lines of glitter on each nail ( one in the middle and one line on each side) The glitter I used was diamond shaped so I used 3 pieces of glitter for each line. Repeat on all nails.
When you are done add a top coat and you are done!

I really like how the glitter shines in the sunlight but is not too much to take away from the beautiful nail polish itself.  I hope you enjoy this simple tutorial!

Halloween Nail Art Tutorial

BOO!

I decided to do another Halloween Tutorial for you guys since the last one was such a hit! I mean who doesn't love Halloween right?? I have always said Halloween isn't just one day a year for me personally, it's everyday! It may have something to do with my birthday being the day before Halloween (October 30th), so I grew up having costume parties as birthday parties. How cool is that?! :)

I decided to throw in some new simple designs for you to try out! We have some Jack-O-Lanterns, Ghosts, Spiderwebs, Frankenstein, and some stitches to complete this fun tutorial. Hope you guys enjoy! Leave me a comment if you have some suggestions.

As always the step-by-step instructions are down below!

 Difficulty: Easy-Medium

TOOLS:

 1. White nail polish-i used Petites in French White
2.Dark purple nail polish-I used Sinful Colors in Amethyst
3.Lime Green polish-I used Pure Ice in Wild Thing
4.Orange nail polish- I used Sinful Colors in Cloud 9
5.Brown nail polish- I used Sinful Colors in Nirvana
6.Black striper polish- I used Salon Perfect in Black Ink
7.Black Glitter polish- I used Salon Perfect in Black Diamond
8.Silver nail polish- I used L.A. Colors striper in Silver
9.Dotting Tool/toothpick
10.Clear Top Coat--I used NYC Long Wearing Extra Shiny

STEPS:

1.Paint your THUMBS and your PINKY fingers WHITE, INDEX fingers purple, MIDDLE and RING fingers lime green. Allow to dry completely.

2. Let's start with the spiderwebs on your thumbs. Grab the black striping polish - begin by drawing a line down the center of your thumb and across it to make a t shape. Now draw 2 more in the shape of an X.

3. Slowly begin connecting the lines. If it isn't perfect take your time and go over the line again. After the web design was dry I decided to take the black glitter polish and put a spider in the center. You can use a striper or a dotting tool to draw the legs.

4. On your index finger use your white nail polish to paint halfway up your nail starting at the bottom, make sure you round it off at the top (the center of your nail) to be a pumpkin shape. After the white is dry add a coat or 2 of the orange nail polish OVER the white to make your pumpkin!
Now on your middle finger using your black striper draw a slanted line across your finger and add 2 more lines coming off of the 1st line. (see my picture above)

5. On your middle finger it is time to add the finishing touches on your stitches! Draw 2-3 small lines going across the longer lines you drew in step 4.

6. Let's go ahead and get the pinky-ghost out of the way! Grab your black nail striper (or dotting tool) and draw 2 dots for eyes and a larger dot in the middle for the mouth! At the tip of your pinky nail paint a thin black line across your nail. Next make the tip uneven with some brush strokes to give your ghost some movement!

7. On to the ring finger Frankenstein!! Begin by painting his hair at the base of your nail. I did 3 small points and slowly connected them together and filled it in.

8. Grab your dotting tool and give Frankie some white eyes! Allow to dry!

9. Now using your black striper put some black pupils on Frankie's eyes, draw a line for his mouth, and add a few small stitches to his mouth for detail. I decided to use the silver nail polish for the bolts on the side of his head.

10. Now to finish the Jack-o-lantern on your index fingers. Use either a toothpick or your black striper and draw 2 small triangles for eyes, an upside down triangle for the nose, and a mouth. Get Creative! Using your brown nail polish add a square to the top of the jack-o-lantern for the stem and you are done!

*After your nails are dry add your clear top coat and wait until they are completely dry.*

Enjoy my Ghouls!! And show everyone your love of Halloween! :)

Butterfly Nail Art

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are having a fantastic weekend! I decided to try something I had seen on Pinterest a while back...A butterfly design.

Step by step instructions are down below.

Hope you enjoy!

Difficulty: Medium
Tools you will need: 1. White nail polish-i used Petites in French White
                                     2. Black nail polish-I used Jordana in Black
3.Orange nail polish-I used Sinful Colors in Cloud 9
4.Clear top coat- I used NYC Long Wearing Extra Shiny Top Coat
                              5. Dotting tool and/or toothpick

Here we go!

1. Paint all of your nails white! Mine needed 2 coats. Allow it to dry completely.*Did you know if your nail polish is taking forever to dry, you can get a bowl of cold water & add a few ice cubes to it--dip your nails in and it will speed up the drying process!!*

When it's dry move to step # 2!

2. Now leave your big toes white and paint the rest orange!

3. While the orange toes are drying let's get started with the butterfly wings on your big toes. Begin by painting a sideways shaped V on your RIGHT big toe and a backwards-sideways V on your left big toe. Does that make any sense? Look at my pictures for reference.. You want them to mirror each other like butterfly wings when you put your big toes side by side. Now make them less V shaped and add some more orange little by little to make them look more like wings. Let them dry!!

4. Now it's time to outline the wings! Put a dollop of black nail polish on a paper plate or something you don't mind throwing away and grab your toothpick--dip it in the black nail polish and begin by dotting/slowly dragging around the outline of the orange wings.

5. Detailing your wings.. Use your toothpick to draw a few squiggly/vein lines coming out from the inner side of your nail (inner wing) to make them look more realistic. I decided to add some white dots using my toothpick around the edges of my wings to make them pop. Now we are done with the wings!

6. I decided to add a small flower to my fourth toe using a small dotting tool dipped in white nail polish. Add 5 dots in a flower shape and allow to dry.

7. Now using your orange nail polish take your dotting tool and place 5 dots almost on top of but not covering the white dots you did for step #6 to make a 2-tone flower. *Optional* I then decided to add a small black rhinestone for the center of the flower. Now just put a clear coat on your nails and you are DONE!

Disco Zebra Manicure

Since the Watercolor Zebra Print Manicure was such a hit, I decided to show you a different take on zebra print with *drumroll please*...The Disco Zebra Manicure!

This design is colorful, simple, and quick!

Step by step instructions are down below!

Difficulty: Easy
Tools you will need:     1.Purple nail polish--I used Sinful Colors in Amethyst
2.Silver striper nail polish (or regular silver polish and a toothpick!)- I used L.A. Colors Striper in Silver
3.Glitter nail polish- I used Milani in Diamond Dazzle
4.Clear top coat- I used NYC Extra Shiny Top Coat

Here we go!

1. Paint your thumb, index finger, ring finger, and pinky purple. Now paint your middle finger silver. Wait until it is dry then let's start striping!

2. I decided to put zebra stripes on the thumb and ring finger.  Use your silver nail striper or silver nail polish (if you do NOT have a striper you need to put a dollop of nail polish on a paper plate or something you don't mind throwing away and grab your toothpick--dip it in the nail polish....) start at the top of your nail on the left side and let the brush/toothpick lightly touch your nail. Now roll your nail towards you to make a stripe! Not all stripes are the same! Some are wavy and some are thick! It is all up to you!

3. Now you should have 1 stripe-GO YOU!!- now for the second stripe--do the same thing you just did but on the opposite side and roll your nail away from you! Keep going back and forth until you are satisfied with the amount of stripes on your nail. (i normally do 4-6 depending on the nail)

4. Now that the stripes are out of the way it's time to add some glitter! Apply a layer of glitter nail polish over the purple nail polish on your pinky and a layer over the silver nail polish on your middle finger. After your polish is dry add your clear top coat and you are done!

Now that wasn't so hard was it?!?  And your nails look fabulous I bet! :)

Watercolor Zebra Print Manicure

It's time for a new nail design!

Today I did a simple watercolor zebra print manicure, to show everyone you don't have to spend big $$ for your nails to look cute! Step by step instructions are down below!

Difficulty: Easy
Tools you will need: 1. White nail polish--I used Petites in French White (417)
                                  2. Black nail polish or a black striper--I used SH i <3 Nail Art striper in Black (310)
                                  3. Neon/Hot Pink--I used Milani Neon in Pink Hottie (507)
                                  4. Lime Green-- I used Pure Ice in Wild Thing
                                  5. Blue-- I used Pure Ice in French Kiss
                                  6. Clear Top Coat--I used NYC Long Wearing Extra Shiny Top Coat (271)
                                  7. Cosmetic Wedge/Sponge
**  If you do not have a black nail striper you will need a toothpick to draw the lines!  **

Let's get started!! Just follow the steps!

1. Paint you nails white. I needed 2 coats. *Did you know if your nail polish is taking forever to dry, you can get a bowl of cold water & add a few ice cubes to it--dip your nails in and it will speed up the drying process!!  When it's dry move to step # 2!

2-3. Paint a line of pink, green, and the blue on your cosmetic wedge/sponge and start dabbing on your nails. Don't be scared if it gets on your skin--it comes off easily with a Q-tip and some nail polish remover! It will be a transparent color like watercolors! If you think there is more of one color than another add some more to your sponge and dab away! Be careful because it DOES get darker the more polish you add!!

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to all of your fingers! Get creative and Have fun!  :)

5. Okay your nails are dry right? Now we will learn to make zebra stripes! Grab your black nail striper or black nail polish (if you do NOT have a striper you need to put a dollop of black nail polish on a paper plate or something you don't mind throwing away and grab your toothpick--dip it in the black nail polish....) start at the top of your nail on the left side and let the brush/toothpick lightly touch your nail. Now roll your nail towards you to make a stripe! Not all stripes are the same! Some are wavy and some are thick! It is all up to you!

6. Okay now for the second stripe--do the same thing you just did but on the opposite side and roll your nail away from you!

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 all the way down your finger! Don't be scared! Remember if you mess up you can always go back and tweak the lines by adding a little more black polish here and there to thicken up the lines to make it look like you meant to do that! ;)

8. Do all of your nails--or if you want you could just do the zebra print on your ring finger as an accent nail..the choice is yours!

9. After the stripes are dry add the Clear top Coat and you are DONE!  YAY!! You did it! Now that wasn't so hard was it?? You will get tons of compliments! :)
